dannablue
My girls have been doing really well laying and some days I get a 4 egg day. I am struggling to get them to lay in the nestbox despite false eggs being in there. They are starting to do the occasional one in there. Anyway the reason for my post is this. On 4 occasions over the last couple of weeks I have had an egg that is broken. It doesnt appear to be pecked and eaten, more a crushing injury. In fact one of them had the yolk still intact. Its never the same egg that gets broken. Is this just unlucky and the girls are walking on them or knocking them, or do you think someone is being naughty against her rival?? Ain't Nobody Here
You could try adding some limestone flour to their pellets which should help harden the shells a bit.
Mollie333
Oh my.. Well i'm not sure if a hen can do that on purpous, i agree with Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here, all the way.. If eggs are getting broken in the box by the chooks maybe the shells are thin? Get some limestone flour or oyster shell. Goodluck!

Egluntyne
Oh my.. Well i'm not sure if a hen can do that on purpous, . Unfortunately they can. Egg eating is a common problem, and takes some stopping.
