jellykelly
My daughetr has just come in to tell me that she saw a chicken throw up in the food bowl. Surely this isn't normal. Any ideas please?
stoice
I didn't think chickens could throw up? Thats why my Gladys (Who has sour crop) needs to be held face down for the gloop to run out of her throat. Maybe it was half way through swallowing something then gave up? Egluntyne
They often regurgitate when they have drunk to much.
Hen Watch
My Henny was throwing up water last month. I didn't beleive it at first when my daughter phoned me but saw it with my own eyes when I got home. Henny was prone to sour crop and peritonitis - on and off for 2 years. She was off her food and camped out right next to the water. She spent all day taking a glug of water, then throwing water back up few mins later, then sipping again and repeating. Due to her crop problem, I turned her upside down and she was immediately sick (tons of it) and I tried to get her to eat cucumber and syringe water drops into her to keep her hydrated. Unfortunately she passed away in the night 2 days later. However, don't be alarmed, my girl had crop problems on and off for 2 years and I think at 3 and a half years old her time was up. Has your girl got any sour/impacted cropy symptoms??? May not be that, but it's a thought.....
jellykelly
Her crop was fine. I brought her in, felt her over etc. I'm intorducing new hens and put them all together today - it may be that she made a mad rush for the food, so noone else could get a look in, and made a pig of herself. My daughter said that there was some pecking going on as they all scrambled to eat the puke - pleasant little creatures they are!
