veggiemad
Hi everyone. I am only getting 1 egg a day at the moment and have been for some time. I have noticed that 2 of my hens aren't crouching either. They are all ex batts and have all laid since being rescued 5 months ago. , I know they may not lay any more, but just wondered if they stop crouching over winter because they are not laying and should i expect them to crouch again - or once stopped- all stoppped?? Thanks
theherd123
I have always owned ex-battery babes and have found that the more I handle them the less they crouch - is this the same with your girls do you think? Hopefully your girls will come into lay again soon esp with the weather looking up
veggiemad
They have seemed more friendly lately- since getting them the WIR as i can spend more time in there without having to stoop down!! I hope that is the reason. Can i ask how old your ex batts are and whether they stilll lay? I hope to get a few more eggs out of mine yet- but realise they are in retirement!! thanks
Egluntyne
They stop crouching when they go out of lay eg. during a moult etc, but start again when they come back into lay. If they have started the hennopause, they may never crouch again.
