After laying her first egg yesterday Scarlett is very quiet today - I have searched softies and she would seem to be following the pattern, quiet, not very interested in free ranging and keeps sitting on the nest. Her vent seems clean and I have had a feel to see if anything is stuck but am not sure what I'm feeling for but all seems normal. Just need some reassurance really and any suggestions for anything else I can do

To be honest, I'd just leave her to it and see what happens.

 

It's best not to prod or investigate if an egg is likely to be on the way.

I only felt gently between her legs nothing more probing I don't know if it is relevant but the nest seemed very wet first thing a couple of days ago.

It's probably nothing, I'd just wait to see what happens and leave her to it.

Thanks, I have looked in there and it was very useful - in fact have wasted a whole day reading

I just went to check on her (she is in the rabbit hutch in shed) and got such a shock - she was all puffed up and looked about to give her last breath and then out popped a normal egg I have left her in the quiet and hope that was the problem and she will now be OK - she looked as if it had really taken it out of her
