i open the house door where mother hen and the chick are living and my cockeral ran across the pen jumped in the house and attacked mother hen and her chick mother hen protected the chick well but has ended up injuried she has s"Ooops, word censored!"ed thr skin off one of her toes it was bleeding alot i have locked the cockeral away in another house out of sight and cleaned mother hens toe with warm salt water have i done right and is there anything else i can do for her

You've done the right thing, if you have any purple spray you could always give her a squirt of that. does she seem traumatised???

she was dancing around and pecking at it and stepping on chick so i took chick out of the house and put it in a bucket with saw dust (first thing i had at hand) cleaned her foot up cuddled her and she was put back into house and was looking for her chick so i put the chick back and she was fine eating drinking chirping at her baby she has also been out in the pen for a stroll just dont want her to get an infection she is still pecking at her toe though wish they did chicken plasters

hmmmm they are attracted to the red of the blood. When it stops bleeding she will forget about it.

 

Just keep an eye on her, not sure what else you can use if you've no purple spray!

could i put vasaline on it thats what we use in human first aid to seal a wound on the sports field i dont think there is anything harmful in vasaline that would cause her harm what you think
