feather loss on neck under chin

Recommended Posts

I have three gingernuts about 9 months old. :D They are in a large WIR 4x3x2 metres with deep litter which has been down for about 8 weeks. They do not free range. I have just noticed that 2 of them are losing feathers from the front of their necks although the skin is not sore. The chief chook does not have this feather loss.

I always dose them with DE in their dust bath box and their nest box so I don't think its lice although i have not checked as they are difficult to catch. If it is feather pulling by the head chook I have never witnessed it - they have always been together and got on well. Am I missing something here or not doing something I should? They have plenty of greens and treats and they enjoy rooting around in the Hemcore so I don't think they are bored. Help please :(
