I am planning on picking up a 3 yr old Eglu tomorrow, how can I be sure it is a mk2. The person selling it has replaced the wooden roosting bars with plastic, I don't know if you could do that with a mk1? I want to add a rabbit base at some point and use a small bird kit for when the chicks hatch, could I still do this if it was a mk1? Please let me know all you Eglu experts!

there are no plastic roosting bars availble for the Mk 1 I believe. The Mk 1 also has a rounder shaped egg port door and a much smaller door for the chickens to go in and out. trying to think of other differences... the bases are difference too I believe.

Thanks Cookie, I'm not sure if the mk1 ever had plastic bars available either, I don't think it did. Hopeful someone will know for certain. This will be my first Eglu if it is good as my cube it should be great!

unless they have started making them for the mark 1 (in which case they would be in the shop) the mark 1 only ever had wooden roosting bars as did the mark 2's until the palstic ones became available. It sounds like an older mark 2 to me to be honest.
