Hi chaps,

One of my older hens is acting very strange. she's not eatting, has puffed up and it sitting in the nesting area of the cube. she's picking up bedding and flicking it on her back. is this a sign of a broody hen? she's benn like it for a couple of days now... she's an ex-bat that we've had since 2007. any ideas???

It does sound like it. Good on her she must be feeling well Perhaps you have an egg coming as well.

How spooky, that sounds just like Evie and she has been quite poorly and she decorated herself too. I hope your chicken soon feels better and plops out an egg. Evie got medicine from the vets and seems a bit perkier but still has a hard bottom area.

i've just managed to get her out tempting her with lettice. she was sitting on 2 massive eggs, which i've just removed! hopefully all ok now

Wow lucky you . I wish Evie would do the same, a giant emu egg on the way for her I think

talk about fickle - as soon as she knew the others were getting something she liked, she was off those eggs and out in the fresh air in a flash! she still looks a little puffed up but I guess it takes some time for that to go down...
