cluckingmad
As Lilly and Pumpkin are currently taking over the nest box, and the other girls get cross if they don't lay first I tried waiting my turn but couldn't wait any longer so I jumped over the fence Mummy put in front of some raspberry plants while no-one was looking (I don't understand why she would do this as they are my favourite thing to nibble in the whhhooooooole garden. Silly Mummy) and laid my egg there... This was when Mummy and Daddy were away and Grandpa was looking after us. It took him ages to find it even though I told him all about as loudly as I could... then Mummy and Daddy came home and found my new nest and Mummy was very impressed and told me what a clever girl I was so I've decided to use that place to lay my eggs every time I think Mummy likes me laying there because she keeps following me over the fence, although I'm not entirely sure why she puts me back on the grass though... The Dogmother
I know the feeling, I have a couple of girls who 'lay wild' in the summer; crawling through the shrubbery on my hands and knees has limited appeal!
cluckingmad
This is our first one todecide on somewhere other than the nest box, she's absolutely determined to lay there and only there thank you so very kindly... when we lift her out onto the lawn she runs up and down the fence bokking like fury till she can jump over again
The Dogmother
Perhaps you need more secure fencing; my banties could get over the chicken wire I had around the borders, so I got some 70cm rabbit netting from flytesofancy and it seems to be working. cluckingmad
yep, think so too... its only 1m chicken wire supported on canes so a more chicken-resistant structure is on the way
