Hi all,

 

Unfortunatly my parents have refused to let me get any more chickens for a while since the garden is now full of them So now I have a broody hen to deal with. I made a brooder cage with a wire bottom yesterday and put her in there this morning. She freaked out and made an absolute racket so I took her out again. Is this normal? Should I just leave her in there to get on with it for a day or so? I just dont want her to get too stressed out.

I'd leave her in there and she should settle down. Just need to keep the air circulating around her.

She won't like it at first - a broody wants a comfy nest box with eggs to sit on - but if you don't want a sitter leave her in there and she should calm down and dtop being broody.
