hippy chick
I think that my chucks are still stuck on daylight saving time. They are still taking themselves to bed a 7pm even though its light until almost 9pm. I thought that chucks would stay up until it started to get dark. Tbh though last week the top chuck died and they have all been rather quiet since.

chickyhazel
Our new girls go to bed early, although one of them goes in and out for a while before staying put. Some chickens like going to bed early, especially if they get up early too.
hippy chick
Yes mine do get up early. I'm up at 6am and they are queuing up at the door to get out. So i guess mine do need an earlier night than most. Last summer they were getting up at 4am but the boss hen would stay out until after 10pm! They must be making up for it! chickyhazel
In hot weather, if you have a completely fox - proof run, you can leave the door open. We do - saves getting up at around 5 am...
