narkosis
hi wonder if anyone could help. We are new to chicken keeping and have 2 leghorns which we have had for 2 weeks now and are around 20 weeks old so have not laid yet. But we have noticed that one of the girls tail is leaning to one side this has been like this now for a couple of days. She seems to be eating and drinking as normal and seems to be happy. The lady we got them from seems to think its just that the other one has been pecking at her tail but have not seen this. Any one got any ideas? should we be worried at all? The Dogmother
I wouldn't worry, one of mine has a slightly skewed tail and there's nothing wrong with her at all healthwise.

The one with the bent tails bum seems a lot fluffy than the other one and her tail feathers seem a lot more ruffled could she be egg bound at all? i know im probablly worrying about nothing but as we are new im just trying to make sure. Redwing
A tail that leans to one side is called a 'wry tail' its reasonably common and is probably inhertited As long as you dont breed from her you will be fine My cockerel has a wry tail but as he has matured its less noticable
