Woop woop I've got a broody

Recommended Posts

Yey - I was hoping that one of my chickens would have a go at broodiness. Barack O'brahma (bantie) has shut herself away in her little house (the perfect house for broody and babies actually). Her timing is perfect.

A friend of ours down the road, her son lost his three chickens recently to a fox. He's feeling a little upset and deflated at the moment. Although originally I had wanted a broody to raise meat birds, I may get jake involved and we can try and hatch some chicks for him this time.

I'll attempt meat birds next time.

The orpington was rubbish. She came out for her break, rushed around like a looney, done a huge poo, stopped for a quick dustbath (which I had moved) and then forgot to return to the nest!

Braham is still sitting tight though and I'm hoping to get some eggs today.

I've got some Silver spangled Hamburg eggs to go under my broody - woop woop!! These chickens have been on my chicken wish list since I saw them at the South of England rare breeds centre. (I know, you can't eat them!)

I've got the eggs sitting on a shelf for 24 hrs before I plant rthem under my broody tomorrow. I'm so excited it's silly!

The next three weeks are going to take forever!!
