Omlet cube and run

My top hen has not been well since Thursday - I came home from work to find her hunkered down in the run with her eyes closed. Her poos were yellow and runny, but today they are fluorescent green!

 

Gail Damerow's Chicken Health Handbook suggests that it might be due to mouldy grain - but then surely the other 11 would be affected too??

Sorry to read your chooky is unwell.

 

Has she spent a lot of time free ranging - she might have nibbled at something she shouldnt thats why your other girls arent affected.

 

It does seem like her tummy is a little upset - is she still eating at all?

You could try and offer her some layers mash porridge with bokashi bran added in as this might help see the end to her tummy troubles.

 

When did she last lay - could possibly be due a softie

Green poos can be a sign of worms. That and the fact that she is hunched. Might be worth giving her a course of Flubenvet.

Thanks theherd - they do free range so I suppose she could have found something that didn't agree with her!

 

They were last wormed with Flubenvet at the end of March, so I hope worms aren't at the root of the problem?

 

I gave her a bath last night and cleaned up her mucky bum, and she seems to have perked up today!

Green droppings are also a sign of not eating enough, so if she's been off her food for a day or two, that could explain it.
