Nicho
Hello all, I have today received a brand spanking new new green cube. Yay!! My girls are still in the classic tonight as I have to make a few amendments to there run to fit the new home but I was windering if there is anything I can do to help them settle in to there new home. I put them in the cube earlier and two of them slipped down the ladder - having seen some of the other posts I have just built a new wooden ladder to go on there to make sure they do not have any accidents. Is there anything else I can do as they are not used to having to go up a ladder to sleep. Any advice would be great. Thanks Nicho
chick wiggle
Aww bless them, they may not be used to it now but they soon will get used to it, dont worry too much! Some of mine still tumble out in a morning and they have been in there over a year
Daffodill
I had to put mine in the cube for the first 3 nights then left them to it. Mine still find the ladder a bit of a challenge but seem to manage -I always make sure the run door is open before I open the pop hole as everyone just takes a running jump on the way out and avoid the ladder all together so they usually land well outside the standard run. Hope it goes well
Patricia W
I put some of that pipe insulation on each rung and at the top just below the doorway. It came off after about 6 months and I haven't bothered replacing it, but it's done the trick as it was easier for them to get a grip on at first. Nicho
Installed the new cube in the run this evening and I checked on the girls about half an hour ago and they are all tucked up in bed. Good Girls.
lillybettybabs
I have had my Cube for 9mnths now, Betty still can't come down the ladder ladylike,She just crash lands (normally into the water)
docsquid
Mine had variable abilities at first but have now settled down and even show off by doing pirouettes on the ladder. Gwennie was the only one who could manage it to start with, but they soon got the hang of it. Blodwyn still can't come down in a very dignified manner (she doesn't do much that is dignified, to be honest..!), she just gets to the top and flaps down. The procession up to bed at night is now quite a dignified one, like a lot of matrons shuffling their bustles up the steps. They'll quickly get used to it. Nicho
I have today introduced our new chicks to the cube, so there are 6 in there now. Just went to check that they've all settled down to in the house only to find that 2 newbies have gone in, the third (Cinders) hadn't managed to find the Cube. She was happily roosting on top of the superglug.
