I have just used weed and feed on my front lawn, and was wondering if i could use it on the back where the hens roam? It says it must be kept away from children/pets until watered in, but also says not to compost the clippings for six weeks (which suggests to me that eating it wouldn't be a good idea). Does anyone use it?

I haven't and to be honest, I'd sooner have the weeds than risk the chooks.

I can't answer if it's safe or not but personally I wouldn't use it if my chickens were going to eat the grass.

Same here, rather the weeds then poorly chooks, they'll eat the weeds anyway

We had a chap that used to treat our lawns and I asked him if it was safe. He said 'I haven't had any problems' which basically means, I don't know, can't be bothered to find out but still want you to pay me to do your lawn He is now our ex chap that treats our lawns. We now don't put any treatment on the lawn. Chickens get the moss out and we dig any weeds out (might get one of those weed burner thingies as they have them in Lidl )

Glyphosate is safe for pets - I am reasonably sure that it doesn't damage grass too, but I make no promises....

glyphosate kills everything it touches and will kill grass !,you need a selective weed killer for grass ,i dont use any chemicals on the lawn any more as our chicks free range,

No, I won't use any chemicals now I have chickens, I quite like having daisies again!
