Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

Hi All

 

I have got my first chicken house and it is sitting in my garden on a nice grassy area where the girls will be able to scratch around and dig for worms. Im collecting my first ex-batt's tomorrow... very egg-citing!

 

I am planning on getting another house (I want more chickens) just like it. The problem is that I have now run out of grassy areas to put it on and so I wanted to know if the chickens will be happy with a concrete floor? I have seen chicken houses mounted on concrete at our local farm shop but Im not sure if they are let out to roam free when the farm shop is closed.

 

Does anyone else house their chickens on concrete/patio? And are they happy? I'll feel guilty as one group of chickens will be on the garss and the other poor girls will be on the patio but does it matter, thats what I want to know.

It will be fine, lots of us have runs on slabs etc..

 

Attach a 'skirting board' around the run and add an inch or so of bedding - woodchips in an uncovered run are excellent, woodchips or something like Aubiose in a covered run

we have ours on slabs with wood chippings they love stacthing about

the ones on grass won't be on grass for very long anyway!!

It will soon turn into a bare dusty or muddy patch, depending on the weather!
