Buffy seems to be broody every other week.

Luckily she is too thick to get very nasty with it but I do feel mean constantly hosing her down and shutting her in the 'naughty cage!!'

Is this going to go on all summer??

I've got one of those....

I put her in the broody cage yesterday----but today she has laid an egg in there

I am now confused---thought they didn't lay when broody????

I've got similar chickens. They've just gone through two broody sessions and appear to be setting themselves up for another session. I had no idea that it would be so frequent. Recently we only seem to get two weeks of good egg laying before Hermione gets broody and the other two join in.

Do you mean your chook starts pecking the others when she's broody? I only have 2 chooks and the pekin now semi broody and has started pecking the other one, whereas previously they've been happy together.
