Approx height of rail for Glug and Grub

Recommended Posts

I am about to fit a Kroken rail to my new walk in run. Not having the normal Omlet wire I need to know the approx height to fix rail to cope with average size chickens. Also should the Glub and the Grub be fixed at the same height? Sorry about all the questions but I want to make sure that my girls are comfortable eating and drinking.

It depends on the grub + glug style you have :P

We've got the old peanut style, which the rail is in the middle for,

the superglug which the rail needs to be a lot higher (obviously),

and the Go ones which the rail needs to be a lot lower for 'cos they lean forwards at a funny angle

Have the grub so its level with their backs as they'd be eating- the same height as you'd have it in the eglu/cube run - and then hold the rail that high

... if that makes any sense! :anxious::lol:

Hi, thanks for the reply however I do not have an eglu/cube run already. Chickens have been in an Ark type coop up until now with no Glug or Grub. I have brand new peanut shaped glug and grubs, (the ones which are for sale in the Omlet shop now) so I was hopeful that someone with a good "working pair"could perhaps measure from ground to rail to save me trying various heights and probably getting it wrong a few times
