What to feed a visiting duck

Recommended Posts

My SIL lives near Frinton-On-Sea and has a duck that visits her garden and spends most of the day there.

She would like to know what she should feed it - obviously doesn't want to over feed it but wants to encourage it to keep visiting - apparently its really friendly.

Any other advice ? (she doesn't have a pond)

Are there any treats that can be given (obviously not too much) ?

(like most chickens will kill for sweetcorn, grapes etc)

Ours aren't that bothered about treats, not like chickens. They'll eat a grape, but only if its thrown at their feet.

Hi Layers would be good and she may have a nest around somewhere so you may get some ducklings turn up.We have 3 lots all at different ages(wild mallards). We have 5 half growns and 4 hand size and then we did have 4 tiddlers but she has only got 1 this afternoon.

The last is not a good mother and forgets her ducklings, so they could be around somewhere. But we have other mothers in waiting who are very tame and keep pestering us for more food too, they come right up to our back door. So I bet she is sitting. Good luck indie :D

Anyhow I hope you get some ducklings soon with her :D
