Omlet Smart Autodoor - New in box

I've mentioned getting a Cube... and to my shock, He only had minor objections but mostly because I said I'd like the cube attached to the outside of the run. He mentioned money but I mentioned his new laptop and selling my purple Eglu/run so money is no longer an objection.

 

But... DO I want the cube on the outside??? Now I think about it, I can see pros and cons for inside and out!

 

OUTSIDE

PROS:

1. more room inside wir for the chooks

2. easy for me to empty poo trays into the compost bin.

3. easy for me to collect eggs/poo without the chooks escaping 2 minutes before my daily rush to work

CONS: From him...

1. Small garden, don't have room

2. "we've only just got the garden looking nice***"

3. wouldn't be able to see the chooks (but I could replace the door with a mesh one)

4. we'd lose the beautiful rockery, plants and fountain

5. it's an ugly lump of plastic.

And doubts from me

6. De-pooing in the wind or rain! Does the bedding in the nest box/poo tray blow around? How horrible is it to de-poo outside in the rain?

7. I'd be nervous having the girls sleep OUTSIDE - I just feel they're safer from Mr Fox inside... worrying about foxes scratching at the poo tray

 

Pros and cons for INSIDE

PROS:

1. keep garden just as it is, don't lose the rockery or space

2. still see chooks

3. de-poo in the dry, even when it's raining and windy so no bedding blowing around.

CONS:

1. uses lots of space as I'd need access to ALL sides, wouldn't I?

2. Couldn't tuck it in a corner or up against a wall as I'd need to open the door, pop-hole and poo trays? Do you HAVE to use the handle to open the door?

 

***I'd put the cube to the right of the door, in the D-shaped rockery border - it would be a shame to lose it as it also has the fountain in there (can't go to the left of the door as the compost bin is there under the apple tree)

 

 

Can anyone help please? Please feel free to add your own!!!

 

I think I forgot the most important one - can I justify the extra cost?

Why don't you move the compost bin. I'm always moving mine when I change my mind.
