I had my new cube delivered yesterday but the delivery man only bought the standard glug & grubs, he said they were out of superglugs, so I kept my originals from the classic. My question is, given I don't plan to extend my hen empire to anymore than 4 (ok 5 max) would I be better off with a superglug???? We occasionally need to leave the hens by themselves for odd weekend to visit relatives etc. What does everyone think???

I have both Superglug and Glug. Superglug arrived with the Cube in Nov and I bought the Glug because I thought the Superglug nipples would freeze in winter (which they do). My Black Rocks prefer the Glug but will use the Superglug if that's all there is. They have occasionally knocked over the Glug completely, they often use it as a perch and the water gets dirty every day The Superglug remains in place and the water keeps clean (other than the odd bug and bits falling in from above). Last time they knocked over their Glug, I found them grabbing at the Superglug nipples in an agitated manner. They looked relieved when I sorted out the Glug and all 4 stood and drank from it as if they had been in the desert. For me Superglug is the safer option if they are being left for any length of time, for the girls it's the Glug is favourite.

I've recently switched to the classic "Green and White" feeders and drinkers. The girls much prefer them to the old Glug and Grub. I never had much of the problem before, other than with 7 chooks, the water and food needed topping up every day, without fail. The new systems allows me to supply enough food and drink for at least two days.

I'd keep the glug Omlet have sent you, & also them to also send you a superglug. After all, it should have come with the cube originally. Then you have best of both worlds!

I have 6 hens in my WIR with a superglug to drink from & the water lasts for ages in there when its full, really handy if you're away for weekends. Yes, the whole thing freezes in winter, but I either bring it it at night or else pour a kettle of boiling water into it first thing in the morning if its been left outside. The same would happen if you had a glug.

I also have the green water holder that's pictured- I think I should hang it up as my visiting hens keep knocking it over :wall::lol:

Thank you everyone for your advice :) Think I am going to go with superglug & glug to cover all bases. Omlet will be sick of me constantly phoning them.

Hope everyone's girls are enjoying the sunny weather!!! GInger and Blanche have spent most the day rolling around in the dirt.
