Lewis
As long as mom will let you, you'll be fine picking him/her up Just be careful, all the kids that come to see ours sit on the floor with them cupped in their hands - less distance to fall
Chook n Boo Mum
My mums have been handled by me through their confinement and have happily let me pick up their babies from hatch onwards..once they get mobile it's harder to catch the little monsters but mum is still happy for the intrusion...........if mum doesn't peck at you, which she might do with only one baby to concentrate on, then for the first few holdings I'd keep it to just you & show the others, then move on to other hands as the chick gets bigger.......make it clear that small hands must not go & pick up the baby on their own though.......mine children are 10 & 13 & I trust them not to drop the babes, any younger than that & keep a close eye obviously Treat it like you did your own newborn babies (just on a much smaller scale & grows soooooo much faster ) & you won't go too far wrong Sha x

Lewis
Thats a typical broody thing to do You could try going out at dusk when she'll be more settled and tired - she should get used to it pretty soon Could also try distracting her with a bowl of mealworms/corn
