Feeling bad

Recommended Posts

Well, I was just about to give the girls their breakfast when OH returned home from the car boot and called me in to have a look at something. About ten minutes later I heard the most awful squawking from through the window - the girls were protesting as I still hadn't given them their breakfast! This was at 9:45 and now the neighbours behind us are chuntering loudly with the occassional "unbelievable" thrown in and I'm feeling really bad :( I have had to retreat indoors 'cos I don't want to hear any more! I've even just started a noise diary!

The girls hardly ever make any noise at all and we've never complained about neighbours loud music, cats pooing on our garden, BBQs or stinky petrol mowers filling our garden with fumes :( What should I do?

When you talk about breakfast, is this extra treats, or is it their normal daily pellets? I would make sure they have access to their pellets as soon as they are up and about. If it's treats that you give them at a certain time each day, they will quickly learn to anticipate them and will shout if they don't arrive on time! You may need to get them out of that habit to stop the shouting :D

They have access to their pellets all the time only this morning they'd managed to kick the feeder over and scatter the pellets everwhere leaving the feeder nearly empty. I was about to refill the feeder when I got called away . . . and it wasn't for very long but boy did they make me pay! :D I always vary treat time . . .

My dad told our neighbours behind us where to go.

They leave stinking rotting food out so we have rats ( I know they live near chickens but the amount is unbelievable ) and they complained to us about my girls announcements.

He basically said 'look if your not happy move we don't complain about your stinking garden or everyones cats pooing all over our garden'.

Ignore the neighbours dont feel so bad and you got distracted it isn't your fault. I have done that before and felt bad but when the food was down the girls were really happy and forgot all about it.

Thanks, I'm feeling a bit better now. I just spoke to someone who lives near and they have three hens. They are of the same opinion and would also tell the neighbours where to go! I'm just such a worry-wart and took it all to heart earlier . . .:oops::oops: I know the neighbours behind have never liked us so I suppose it doesn't matter what we do they will always complain! :wall:

When I first got my girls I was on tenter hooks every time they made a noise, even a low level boc boc! Now the sunshine has arrived I have realised that they in fact dont make as much noise as the rest of the world. We have people mowing, strimming, doing DIY. There are cars going up and down the street, aeroplanes overhead. There is the dawn chorus (and sometimes the evening one - when Mrs Blackbird gets going there is no stopping her!). The neighbours above x 2 both have barbeques with friends and family round which we can smell and hear for hours on end. The neighbours on the right and the 2 houses below all have children who run about scream, shout, laugh and argue during their play. There are 3 houses with dogs all of whom have their moments for a barking session. I have cats from all directions that come into the garden (although dont stop as the girls chase them off) but the odd one will use my garden as a toilet. The house which backs on to mine has barbeques and this morning at 9am was playing music loud enough for me to hear. The way I figure it is this, if I have to put up with all that and do not say anything then a couple of minutes of boc boc and egg announcements with hours and hours of peace is a fair swap and they should consider how much noise they make when complaining.

A little bit of live and let live goes a long way. Some people are just not happy and have to have something to complain about. They are probably jealous they dont have your lovely girls  or worse that you havent offered them some tasty eggs :lol:
