Thanks Mollie ...

To be honest i dont understand it ...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5KG-DIATOM-RED-MITE-WORMING-POULTRY-HOUSING-CHICKENS_W0QQitemZ290339759157QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=6c4369531260a0e202449c24ffe07d82#ht_1690wt_911

It says that its for putting on perches for red mite then it says about putting it in the food ... Really confused ... :?

Is a little bit confusing. Doesn't make that much sense tbh..

Basically saying, sprinkle it around the bedding, and mix in with pellets.. :?

They sell diatom earth that im (going to be) using in my dustbath, on Omlet,

but there is a huge price difference.

Its £18.95 for 1kg.

Whereas on eBay its £23.99 for 5kg.

I think your best getting it off eBay.

Diatom is made up of millions of exoskeletons of microscopic creatures and works on external and internal parasites by puncturing them and causing them to dehydrate and die. If you prefer not to use chemicals it is one option.

Do you know if it is any good ? All i want really is something that will get rid of worms ... Basically does it do the job ?

Thanks :D

It is a useful preventative for external parasites, both in the Eglu and on the bird itself.

I haven't relied on it as a wormer, as had a disappointing experience with one of the herbal supplements, so I always use Flubenvet.

I do add it to their feed when I think on, as it is supposed to be beneficial in increasing the goodnesss they get out of the food.

I'd go for Flubenvet then at least you know it has done the job which may work out cheaper in the long term. With the number of birds that you have it is important to keep a handle on worming. :D

Yes i was thinking that :)

i will properly get verm x ... but is doing it every 2 months ok ?

:D

But this is what i heard "Its An effective wormer because worms and soft bodied insects are unable to withstand the killing action of Diatom." :?

Verm-x is not a licensed wormer. It is a herbal supplement that is said to 'prevent' worms. I personally would worm every 3 months with Flubenvet. You could use Verm-x too as it contains all sorts of herbs but I would still use Flub.

I am currently worming with Flubenvet but do you know if I can use Verm-x at the same time?

You can use both throughout the year but I would not give Verm-x while you are treating them with Flubenvet. Some use Verm-x as a supplement and then worm 3 times a year with Flub.

Thanks for that - am paranoid now and want to make sure I get rid of the worms :)
