Debaser
Hello, We've had out two Omlet girls for about a year and unfortunately we lost one yesterday . Were not sure what happened might have been a fox attack or possibly a bird of prey....? Anyway we only have the one girl now all on her own. I've decided to get two more as company and I have ordered the run extension for the Eglu, it will arrive next Wednesday. So do you think I should wait 10 days, when the extension gets here to get the two extra girls. Or do I can them ASAP so my current girl isn't all on her own. If I do go down that route will the three of them be ok in the standard run until the extension gets here. Many thanks,
theherd123
You could happily get the extra girls now and when the extension arrives just add it on. Make sure you have a good read about what to expect when you introduce new chickens. Take a look here viewtopic.php?f=42&t=25886
chicken bark
I think you need as much space as possible when doing introductions. So unless you can rig up a temporary run of your own I'd wait until you got the extension. Remember that ideally you should keep new hens completely separate from your existing one for a week just in case they have an infection. Sorry to hear of your loss.
