We've had our 3 hens for about 10 weeks now and they are over 6 months old. Yesterday I noticed one of them pancaking a lot in the sun and not eating or coming over looking for treats like the others do when I pass by them. She's looking very sorry for herself and not moving around as much as the other two who are bright and bushy tailed. Marge has also puffed herself up a lot just looks totally cheesed off and lethargic.

We wondered if it was the hot weather yesterday but she's still the same today and it's a lot cooler. I've checked her out and there's no mites or anything like that and her eyes are bright and there's no discharge around her nose.

We don't get too many eggs out of any of them, about averaging 1-2 a day (sometimes none). They get pellets and corn, plenty of water and a bit of free ranging around the garden oh and of course some table s"Ooops, word censored!"s Any advice would be helpful

Are they hunched with tails down or flat like a fluffy pancake all the time?

Hopefully they are broody and not poorly.

She's hunched with tail down and hasn't moved from her spot all day. She just looks so lethargic.

Could be a soft shelled egg on the way. I would bring her indoors and make her comfortable. Try to get her to drink something, by dripping water on her beak.

 

If she isn't better later, then a trip to the vet might be in order.

Thank you, will try that. She has been sitting near the glug and having a few sips from it but generally not moving a lot at all.
