Henslaved
I have 4 2yr old hens that used to lay quite regularly, but over the last couple of months I was only getting 1 to two eggs a week. I now haven't had any eggs for nearly two weeks. I have wormed them using flubenvet, and also added some poultry spice to their food and Battles poultry drink to their water. Today one of them has produced an "egg" what looks like a large red grape. (I would post a photo if I knew how) Any help would be appreciated. joza2210
This explains a lot about when hens stop laying for a while : http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_do_chickens_stop_laying_eggs Hope This Helps
Egluntyne
I would keep them in the run till afternoon a to make sure that they eat up their pellets, and cut right down on treats. It would be useful to have a look at the picture of the 'red grape' Instructions for uploading them **here**
Henslaved
The hens are in their run for most of the day and are only allowed to free range mid afternoon to early evening, although they do get chopped lettuce, mixed corn and a few grapes before bed. Here is the picture of the 'red grape''. (Thanks for the instructions.) Bearing in mind the eggs I used to get were usually pale flesh colour to very light brown (and much bigger ) Oh I also forgot to mention that there doesn't seem to be half as much poo under their perches as usual . Henslaved
Have just checked on the girls today. Still eating their pellets during the day with the occasional munch on the oyster shell. Then they sit in the nest box and make all the right shouty noises but still produce nothing. They have been doing this now for the past two weeks . Last night I mixed in some olive oil with their lettuce and grapes in case they need any extra lubrication. Will wait and see what happens.
