susanb
We have just realised that one of our chickens is broody. We have had 2 busy days and so she has probably had 2 days where she has got away with sitting on the nest most of the time. She may also have been sleeping in there (they all usually sleep on a perch in the WIR these nights). I have read that you have to catch the broodiness in the first couple of days if you are going to snap her out of it....so are we too late or is it worth spending all day tomorrow turfing her off the nest? thanks
Egluntyne
No, it isn't to late. I'd start her with corrective training and a broody cage straight away.
susanb
by corrective training do you mean that we try to keep her of the nest as much as possible? and I have read about cooling her down by putting her in water? is there anything else? Egluntyne
I do. Dipping them in water isn't a great deal of use. I was once successful in putting freezer blocks under a broody, but never since. Advice **here** Your best bet is to use a dog crate. Works every time for me.
