Roobaloo
We've had our two girls since early April...We converted our oversized garden shed into a nice walk-in run and they spend the afternoon roaming "their half" the garden (they no longer get the whole thing after they managed to get through the netting and into my vegetable patch and eat the lot... ) The only problem is that their half the garden is next to our neighbours property and the fence isn't very high...they've had their wings clipped and it's a fairly unstable fence...so they've not even attempted to jump up. However, the neighbours have a 10 year old daughter who is very active, she spends most her free time on their trampoline... Twice this week we've had balls land in the chicken area...they're only the very light "toddler beach ball" type but obviously could be very scary for a chicken!! Her Mum said she gave her daughter a strong telling off and pointed out that if we chose to keep or pop her balls, then she would be all in favour... (we didn't!) Well, this morning, a hand written and delivered letter appeared in our mailbox. Addressed to myself, my OH and the Chickens. I opened it and the first thing it said was "Sorry" "I am really sorry for the balls that keep going over the fence. It's just they're so light that even when you barely kick them al all they go quite high and the wind takes them so they end up in your back garden (she drew a sad face!) I really will try and be much more careful with where I'm playing with the balls in future. Sorry again" She then signs it before adding... "P.S. I'm sorry if I scared the chickens. P.P.S. To Jake (My OH) Thanks again for changing my guitar strings, it sounds so much better P.P.P.S. Sorry if you hate me now " Bless her!!! Well, I decided this token of bravery and decency could not go unrewarded....so we've picked her some fresh strawberries...and I decided that Toph and Suki should say their bit too... If you can't read my hand writting, it says "We know you didn't mean to scare us..." "...We're just a bit CHICKEN!" (...what? that's hilarious to a ten year old!! )

migsy
What a sweet little girl! Your chickens would have it much harder if they lived with my 3 little boys! I love your drawings by the way

Sageandonion
Aww what a sweet thing to do on both counts. Your drawings are fab - methinks you could design a range of greetings cards for Omlet I bet the little girl loves the note and the strawberrries too .
