migsy
I've never taken the food in. Maybe I should.
kerryegg
I was getting up at 4.30 to open the eglu door as I couldn't bring myself to leave it open. However when we were away in June my neighbour decided to leave it open as it was very hot and the girls were sleeping on the access ladder. The eglu is in a run on a table about 3 foot high. I now leave them open and don't have to get up, albeit briefly, at 4.30. Both neighbours with less secure runs leave hen houses open. I do worry a bit about mink, haven't heard of any in the area, but hope the run is fox and badger proof. Personal choice really. I am so pleased that my neighbour made the decision for me. Good luck with whatever you decide. I do have a treadle feeder due to past rat problem and to deter sparrows from pinching the pellets.
