bluekarin
I've just tried looking on my banks website to no avail, so I hope you can help. I have a debit card, which a week or so ago I used, but somehow I got the pin number wrong. TWICE!! Hubby said they are reset back to the three chances after a period of time, so I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a)true and b) how long? I am slightly paranoid about getting it wrong as I have only one chance left Thanking you
Jules.
if you get it wrong 3 times you can reset it after 24 hours at one of your own bank's cash machines- there is an option " unlock pin"
milli
Could you pop into your bank or phone them and ask?
bluekarin
I'll have a look on the cash machine today as I am in town and see if there is an option to reset the pin number. Thanks for all your help though
Lydia
When I was a silly billy a couple of months ago and mixed up the PINs on my credit cards, I phoned the card company who had to reset it from their end and then I had to unlock it at the cash machine. Both bits had to happen before I could use the card again.
bluekarin
I went in the bank today and there was actually someone at the help desk! There wasn't last week. She says there is no way of resetting the pin 3 times at its locked thang, unless I ask for a new pin, which I may do. Its far too risky just having the one chance. If you regularly get it wrong, why not change it to something you'll remember?
Patricia W
My husband did this, but with a credit card, and he managed to unlock it at a pin machine as Jools suggested. I guess there is more risk with a debit card. I can remember pin numbers - what I can't remember are passwords..... Tricia
bluekarin
There wasn't a problem about remembering the number, I just typed it in wrong on the machine in Sainsburys. The first time I think I hit one number twice and ended up with 5 little stars! And the second time I am sure I did it right. Thinking there may have been a fault with the card reader
