Can your hen loose its voice?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure they can. My Light Sussex really goes for it during an egg announcement and often sounds a bit croaky towards the end. My Speckledy opened her beak to crow a few weeks ago and had us in stitches as all that came out was a squeaky sort of BOOWwwwaakkkkk, sounded like she was on 40 a day, she was fine next day though.

I wish mine would..... Margot started screeching just before 5 yesterday morning which woke me up (& probably the rest of the street) . To add to my embarrassment, Barbara started making a similar noise yesterday evening (just around the time the children next door were going to bed):oops: .

I am now making sure they are shut in the eglu at night as they had 1 very tired & grumpy owner

She has had a cold but seems to be on the mend, I'm checking her nostrils every day, she hasn't had any wheeziness. Her voice is still a little croaky but I'm sure it will get better. Been putting garlic in their water to help and poultry spice in their food.

She does sound ever so funny but still lovely, I love her to bits hence the constant worry!!

My girls go in the Eglu at night and get shut in so that they don't make so much noise that they wake the neighbours, I'd hate to get complaints from them!
