TAJ
My very little scruffy frizzle started crouching last week, so I checked the nest box yesterday - to my surprise a little 21g bantie egg! She is only 19 weeks old today, as are the others in with her - I was expecting something in the next month or two, but the egg is so sweet and she is just the smallest of my hens. Isabel
Well done to your Frizzle ... that egg sounds so tiny & sweet.
Purplemaniacs
Ahh congratulations, it sounds so sweet. Will a banties eggs get bigger? Chrissie
TAJ
Will a banties eggs get bigger? Chrissie I would love to know the answer to this myself - I have since had two more from her - both 25g. I have heard bantie eggs are 2/3rds the size of a 'standard' egg - but I suppose that theory depends on the size of a 'full size' chicken's egg of a similar breed. I would be interested to know if they are likely to stay around 25g, or may be go up to 30-35g as she gets a bit older. Tracy
Jools
Yes they do get a bit bigger, but don't expect miracles. It very much depends on the bantam - I have three Sussex girlies and two lay small eggs while one lays eggs that are nearly the size of those laid by some of my bigguns. I don't know about weights though sorry.
