Cinnamon
Has anyone harvested their garlic yet? Mine is drooping, looking yellowish & I have just snipped off the flower heads....I am itching to get it up so I can use the bed for something else! Onions too - anyone had theirs up yet? Lydia
We've already pulled most of ours up and have been munching through it for a couple of weeks now. We've still got one container to go but then that's it.
Couperman
I pulled our garlic about three weeks ago and dried it the house. Our onions are starting to look about ready to lift, I am going to leave them for a bit longer yet I think. I need to find space to dry them too. Kev. Cinnamon
Right,am off to harvest mine now then I have brilliant wooden slats in my new greenhouse, which are perfect for drying garlic & onions - just got to remember not to overdo it like I did last year, when it went all crumbly

Lesley
I meant to come on here on Friday to post the photos of ours - we lost a few bulbs which were starting to rot and a few were trying to flower so have the stem in the middle and will not keep as long as the good bulbs. We grew Provence and Lautrec - Provence was much better.
Cinnamon
I think it was Chesnok Wight (I MUST start using labels!) that did well for me,& I have my eye on Provence for next time. Any recipe ideas for Elephant Garlic, anyone? I have 10 Massive bulbs of the stuff to get through!
Lydia
I googled and came up with this roasted soup with aubergine that used 4 bulbs. I imagine it would roast really well too. Incidentally where did you get your elephant garlic from to grow? I reckon hubby would love to try growing some next year.
Cinnamon
I got if from the Isle of Wight Garlic co - think thats what they are called anyhow. Very easy crop to grow. I got a mini Garlic lovers pack - 4 heads of different Garlics, plus cloves of Elephant garlic too
chickencam
Our garlic didn't do much this year, but the onions are nearly ready to come up. We will harvest them next week when the weather dries up again. We had some garlic in a raised bed last year which died off in the wet spring and we forgot about it and it grew up again this spring and we have quite a few tiny but useable bulbs.
