Hi

 

We are just in the process of putting down concrete slabs and drainage channels - hopefully as a solution to a very smelly outside run after trying just about everything from stalosan, garden lime etc.

 

Could someone please give me some advice regarding what materials to put on top of the slabs for the chickens to scratch in. We are considering wood chips but finding it difficult to source these. Is there anything else that would be suitable? Can aubiose and hemcore be used in an outside run?

I'd recommend Aubiose.

Aubiose is great but the run needs to be covered. If open then try your local tree surgeon for woodchip.

I use hemcore or bedmax in my covered WIR and woodchips or nothing in the hen garden.
