Omlet cube and run

I was going to type Messy Bedrooms in the title but thought it applies more to children than chickens

 

It's curiousity really ... this past few nights mine have been making the floor of the henhouse (under the perches) really messy by scratching back the aubiose into a big pile. Doesn't sound too bad except it means it takes ages to poo-pick in the mornings as the piles of droppings are broken up and scattered everywhere - a 10 min job now takes about 30. I could hear them scratching at it when I went to let them out this morning ... they're not in any longer than usual in the mornings - always get out around 7am. Any ideas as to what causes this type of behaviour?

 

Am considering leaving pophole open as as they can get into run but water is outside run and food isn't left out overnight so they might go mad looking for those ... also, poo-picking the run is a rotten job!

gosh I must be a rotten chicken mummy as I never poo-pick the actual run--particularly in this dry weather I find they just dry up and disappear quite quickly on their own!

Well if they are anything like my disgusting girls they are looking for undigested corn in eachothers droppings

LOL ... I prefer to think they're trying to catch the odd moth which has found its way in!
