I love my Chickens!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to tell you all how much i love my Chickens! My life has changed! I now get up 15mins earlier (6am) used to be 6.15am, so i can feed them & fresh water before i head off for work! :(

I get back about 5ish & as soon as i get in i go outside to their run & say ' hello my babies' how have you been today? Have you laid me some eggs :) usually 1 or 2! they go boook book booook - just let us us out will you! pacing up & down by the door! :D so funny! they have wrecked my herb garden :shameonu: but i really don't mind! i spend the rest of the evening clearing their 'poos' and washing down the patio, then giving them a cuddle :D & a treat of fresh corn on the cob which they love! They found a piece of elastic last night which they thought was a worm :) i managed to get it off them, but only i chased them round, i was worried in case they swallowed it.

i have noticed that the evenings are getting shorter. I got them on 6th July and they went to bed about 9.45. the last couple of weeks it has gone down from 9.45 to 9.30 then 9.15 now they take their selves to bed about 9ish! I am dreading the winter months as they won't get to FR until the weekends. :(

My Mum is poorly at the moment in hospital, but my chooks help me relax & take my mind off things. Don't know what i would do without them  Even the cats seem to accepted them as part of the family.

Am i a 'Chicken Nerd'?

I love how much they've brought my garden to life. I'm out there all the time now doing this and that.

Same for me - I hardly did any gardening before I got mine. I got my girls to get me through a difficult time and they too have changed my life, glad you are enjoying them so much :D

Sorry to hear about your Mum. Hope she is ok.

I feel exactly the same about my chickens. I got them at the beginning of June and completely adore having them, aren't they endearing?

I work from home and find myself always checking on them or going out and saying hello! My new favourite past time is to make a cup of tea and take it into the garden to go and chat to the chickens! It is amazing what you are willing to put up with isn't it? You lost your herb garden :( and I had all my new plants to make some hanging baskets eaten the other day.

I am glad you are enjoying them so much, if you are mad though then so are the rest of us!

Thanks - i have only had mine since 6 July - i wish i worked from home but to be honest i wouldn't get any work done! lol! :D I sit on the doorstep with a glass of wine chatting to them, my OH thinks i am potty

I rescued some of the plants out the herb garden & put them in pots, i am always out there in the evening 'poo picking' the lawn/patio area & sweeping the soil off the lawn back into the 'what once was the flower beds' - but i wouldn't swop them them for anything!

Our girls arrived on 6th July as well, and I know exactly how you feel! My OH thinks I've gone chicken mad too, but it's very difficult not to fall in love with them, and even he finds all sorts of excuses now to spend time in the garden! They've completely trashed my just settled new herbaceous borders.... but strangely, I don't mind as keeping them happy is the most important thing now.
