Leg colour in Light Sussex?:S

Recommended Posts

Posted this before ages ago and didn't get an answer.

So i hatched 4 Light Sussex on the 7th July, so, they was three weeks yesterday, I've got 3 cockerels and one pullet. Three (including the girl) has pinkish legs, and the other one has BRIGHT orange legs, and is defiantly a cockerel. Any idea of what this means, he is defiantly a Light Sussex, because he was from the same batch from the same poultry which just specify in Light Sussex (LF).

Help? :D

It means there is something other than Sussex in the background, as Sussex don't have yellow legs.

It's really diffcult to be sure of the progency of anything you buy, as livestock or hatching eggs. I found out recently that the Silver Sussex pullet I bought over two years ago actually has some Light Sussex in her make-up, which is why her chicks are wrongly marked. It doesn't matter too much if you're not planning to breed, but it is a tad frustrating.
