dixie chick
I have a beautiful Lavender Araucana that lays blue eggs. She is grey coloured - like a dove- and is the first to come up to me for treats - I would highly recommend this breed!
Mollie333
Aracuana is your girl. She is Grey, well, Lavender and lays blue eggs! http://www.omlet.co.uk/breeds/breeds.php?breed_type=Chickens&breed=Araucana
Redwing
An Araucana would be ideal Dont add just one chicken though, it will have a really hard time
Mollie333
Definatly agree with Redwing, I'd add three at the least, incase one doesn't take to well to the house move, or passes away for a reason, the worse thing is having one bird that gets picked on.. juliec
cheers guys for the replies, the issue i have is that i have a eglu classic and already have 3 chucks resident, they free range all day from around 8 in the morning till 9 at night when they troop off to bed together, the only time they spend in the run is when they pop in for food and drink, so there is plenty of room for one more in the house at night but i think i would be pushing it to squeeze in another
Mollie333
I think that 5 will snuggle up in a Classic overnight, but not enough room in the run obviously, and you will need seperate accommodation for them to sleep in for a while, a old rabbit hutch with some roosting bars would do, then let them free range with eachother untill there OK together then you can put them in the Eglu. Theres alot of information about introducing hens on the Forum. Hope you get on well.
amc
Aracuana is definitely the one to go for. Let me know if you find any as I want some more too! I do agree with the others about introducing only one hen though, it might be good to have a plan B incase you need to move it away from the others. And if you do only introduce one make sure it is at least POL, if it is too young it could be picked on even more. Hope it all works out for you.
