Calamity Jane
Hi there fellow nutters Please can someone advise...... I am scared to let my 3 Sussex ladies out of their run in case they go mad and run about like headless ???? They are about 16 weeks old and still a bit nervous (not as much as me!) Is it ok to just let them out? Will they go back in if scared ?

CallyChook
I just let mine out after a couple of days being in a small run under my wooden chicken coop, and they were absolutely fine. Even found their way back into the house alone! I guess if you were worried, perhaps let them out near bedtime, a couple of hours before dusk? That way they're more likely to be subdued and also want to go to their house when it goes dark, then increase the ranging hours every day? Just a thought, I'm not a very experienced chicken keeper, I've had my big girls for a yr now xx
Calamity Jane
I think maybe I need to fence off my garden at the top, so they dont have too big an area to start off with. I might just be putting the big day off a touch though One day I will look back on this and
