Guest
Aw cute. The silkie looks more like a gold partridge silkie and the x looks like it is crossed with a light susses I am most likely wrong. Lovely girls. So want your cochins
jellykelly
I thought that there was some light sussex in there too but who am I to argue with the lady that hatched her though?! Fanny's dad was a silver laced wyandotte and mum was a pure white silkie. She is mid moult at the moment so she might look a little different with shiny new feathers? Guest
Yeah probably. And she looks so much like a columbian pekin as well maybe a sussex cock got in hmm oh well she is stunning.
CallyChook
They're all lovely hens especially mrs wonky foot a totally unrelated question, but if you get the chance would you please post or pm me with how you get your images that size? I have been hosting on photobucket and setting their size on there as small, when i look at the album on photobucket they're all nearly now shrunken down to thumbnail size, but post the IMG code on here and they're too wide to fit the screen! I hate being so technologically clueless
jellykelly
She's a 'surprise surprise' as Cilla would say.
jellykelly
Cally - I don't do anything. I use photobucket and simply copy and paste the link.
CallyChook
darn it.. it seems i fail at photobucket even without fiddling!!
jellykelly
Ok - I have just had hold of Fanny. She was flapping a lot but I managed to get a fairly decent look at her. She has slighty yellow skin, very yellow legs and only 4 toes. I know thats not very silkie-ish, but are these wyandotte characteristics? Any idea's? Guest
I don't know but no silkie in there Maybe she is light sussex and pekin cross ?
jellykelly
There is feathering on the leg, so could be. She has a yellow beak too.
Guest
Her face looks like my light sussex bantams and her body looks like my pekin's so maybe You should host a competitions GUESS THE BREED MIX.
jellykelly
I'm googling silver laced wyandottes and the characteristics are the same. I just can't see where the silkie is! It must be in there. I can't argue with this lady - she's a back garden hobby hatcher. She knows exactly what eggs come from which chicken and who's done the 'business' with who. She's a cutie though - thats all that matters to me!
Guest
Well maybe she has silkie but has different Genes or flawed genes. She is a cutie though would love her
Egluntyne
Lovely. Especially the chicken in a basket. They used to serve that in the pub down the road.
