After I dried my darling Betty I was checking her over and looked at her belly and she is BALD!

 

Now she was sitting on duck eggs and is going through moult so I am guessing they are the reasons ?

 

She has never had a bald stomach even when she went broody all those times.

They pull feathers from their tummies to line the nest and for their hot skin to incubate the eggs better.

They will grow back after moulting I take it ?

 

I honestly haven't seen it on any of my hens before.

All of my three girls have got a bald belly since the hot weather spell. None of them were broody this year, too young for that! Though I felt some sticks of feathers starting to push through now that it has cooled down. Maybe it's just temporary!

I had to wash one of my pekins when the cat chased her into the pond, when drying her with the hairdryer I noticed she had a bald belly, I felt a bit intrusive as though she was bare!! lol I called the breeder and she said it is normal so I wouldnt worry about it if you cant see it when she is dry.
