Urgent help please..

Recommended Posts

It sounds like its pipped too early, if its not really ready to hatch there will still be blood vessels full of blood on the membrane, it sounds like one of these has been ripped

Its a heck of a gamble what ever you do next

If you leave it the blood could dry and trap the chick - if you decide to leave it DONT open the incubator

If you take it out and help the chick out chances are it wont survive as it probably hasnt absorbed the yolk sac yet

I would probably leave it and see if the bleeding stops and the chick is strong enough to hatch

Either way it doesnt look good sorry :(

There are 8 other eggs thar were supposed to hatch today none have,, I am feeling very disappointed, I did take the egg out to look at it but very very quickly. it was alive in there so I just put it back immediately, my incubator doesnt take more than 3 seconds to recover from opening it so I took the risk, but now Im wondering why all the others didnt hatch.. its terribly worrying .. :(

I candled them at 18 days before I locked down... they were all viable. they were all from one place .. all Naked Necks..

I told you a lie when I said none hatched , one silkie hatched today, who was put in there as an odd one, the rest I put under a hen but nothing came of it.. None of the Naked necks hatched at all, I started with 24 and ended up with 9 naked necks, and none have hatched except this one which has pipped with the blood.. how long should I give them all.. ?

I suppose its possible they could hatch tomorrow.. I will keep you posted.. :?

Hmmmm oh dear... so if the humidity is supposed to be 50 now what would it be during incubation?... in my Brinsea handbook it says ; Poultry --------During Incubation 40-50% RH

Hatching 65% RH or more

Do you all have the same incubator? and do they vary with regard to this?. Seems a lot of conflicting advice.. do you think I should leave it at 68% or try to lower it?

I'd try and get it at least a little lower by opening the vent if there is one

Chances are the damage may have been done - how much only time will tell - In my humble opinion 65+ is high, maybe the eggs could hatch at that sure but to raise the level up to that at day 18 (as I believe they recommend) maybe isnt so wise but of course people faithfully follow the instructions....

It may still be ok, its quite normal for chicks to be late hatching

Well, I appreciate your advice, the good news is, that the one with the bloody leakage has hatched by itself and looks fine, :D , I am now awaiting another one thats pipped, after that has hatched I may listen to the other 7.... see whats what.
