MSN hacked - Any experience

Recommended Posts

Ugghhh So as you can read in the title, my msn has been hacked. I have no idea what I should do.

It started yesterday. I was talking to my friend when all of a sudden my internet went really slow. When it returned to normal my friend said that she could see me - which is odd because I don't have a webcam. Apparently there was a girl with wet hair in a white room :| . That definately was not me. A few minutes later my name was cahnged to Jonathan, and my picture was changed to the clock from countdown :? . Soon after than, my name was changed to 'JONATHAN - REVENGE IS SWEET' . I don't even know anyone called Jonathan!. I closed down msn and turned off my computer. Later, I recieved a text from my friend saying that I had sent her an email saying that my mum is a bin man. :? I logged back on and changed my password.

It got worse today. My friends name was cahnged to 'Johnathan - (Another friend's names was here) look out, (My name) I'm going to get you. Sometimes when she typed something, all that came out was ########. During this conversation random people kept on coming up, even though they hadn't been invited, including a robot what talked about something, *ahem* rather inapropriate. I blocked this user and closed down my msn. I tried to log on about an hour later but the hacker had changed my password. I went on yahoo messenger to tell my friends, but then the hacker hacked my friends account and sent some very rude and not suitable for repeating on the forum messages  I managed to guess the password for my msn so I logged on and changed it, so hopefully they won't be able to do that again.

Uhhhg I dunno what to dooooo  . My friends want to dial 999  but I keep telling them not to. I told them that it's for emergencies only. They said that this IS an emergency.... I.... don't think so. The police have got better things to do.

So yaaa any advice would be helpful :(

Thanks for reading

~ LCL

As you quite rightly say 999 is for emergencies only. There is a non emergency number but I have no idea what it is off the top of my head, I'm sure it's on google somewhere - it's like something out of the IT crowd emergency number sketch!

I don't think the police would want anything to do with it as it's not their website to monitor. I would contact msn via one of their contact methods and explain everything to them including dates, times and any logs if you have them. Websites are hacked everyday so it's no big deal but I would make them aware of it so that they can check the logs at their end for any suspect activity.

I'd change your passwords to something no-one can guess and have some numbers and symbols in it. Get your friends to do the same.

Its usually when you've signed up (or someone else has signed you up) to something. Could run a virus check to be sure too.

I think theres a report button for the hacker/robot account things.

Right click, delete and block them from your account.

Make sure you tell your parents too :)
