buying together stops bullying?

Recommended Posts

Read a lot on the forum about bullying.

If chickens are purchased from a place like Golden Valley Poultry and they have been wondering around the same field, are they pretty much guaranteed to get on?

What about the chooks coming from Omlet? Will they bond just because they have entered a new environment together? Looking at getting 3/4 chickens.

Oh Plum if only I could decide!

I quite fancied Light Sussex Bantams, but hubby wants big eggs.

The Miss Pepperpot and Gingernut look fine from Omlet, but then that only works if I buy their house.

Golden Valley down the road from me looks like they sell nice chooks, so I would probably just pick the ones that look pretty.

Then there is the accomodation. The Cube or James Super from Woodenart.

A bit indecisive here

Any thoughts or advice?

Well I started with hybrids and they are great girls. The pepperpot and gingernut have equivalents called something different from each breeder. At golden valley they call them Golden and Black. Usually they are vaccinated so have protection against the nasty bugs and diseases.

I have a cube and find it easy to manage but like you i do like the look of wooden houses. My cube is 8)8)8)

Migsy - it does look great. I work, so the chooks would not be able to free range that much, apart from the weekends, so I thought the James Super looked great and would offer them lots of room.

Plum - I get the advantages of the cube, and it would be the easy option, they deliver with chooks, set it up, but its a bit modern looking!! The James Super comes with an automatic door (though I get that some people don't shut the door on the cube), though I have the delay in them building it. Thanks for the advice about GVP :)
