juliec
Hi Guys Im after a bit of advice please, doris who is my head of the pecking order in my little harem is plucking her own tummy feathers out, she's been broody a couple of times recently, both whilst we were away and the lady who looks after them doesnt take the eggs out straight away. Anyway the last time she was broody she went into the broody coup for a couple of days and seemed to snap out of it. Over the last couple of days ive noticed more and more feathers in the nest box and today i realised she had a bare belly ! She's not acting as though she is broody again, there are no sign of any skin problems or lice or mites, so im not sure what to do, can anyone advise me please
Christian
She is probably gearing up for a broody spell. One of mine spends 10 days or so pulling feathers and stuffing her face before she goes broody. She then sits for 21 days and then snaps out of it again. bevmatt
Yep would definately agree with Christian - she is getting ready to be a mum.
