staceychristie
Hi all, Well we had three new ex-batts arrive a few weeks ago to keep the remaining 3 'old girls' company. All has gone well with introductions as we kept the 3 new girls in the run, away from fights. However one of the new girls keeps jumping on the back of the smallest underhen (like mounting from a cockrel - even holding on to her comb, but not pecking or tearing it.) I'm sure she's just trying to show she's top girl (of the new girls). We've tried peck spray and vasaline on the comb, but are wondering if anyone else has had this problem before? The new girls are all laying, and our original 3 stopped laying in Feb. Thanks for reading my rambling post Stacey
The Dogmother
It's just a show of dominance, push her off and make her submit to you. If that doesn't work, then spray her in the face with water when she does it. It doesn't usually hurt the 'under hen' but isn't pleasant for them.
