jam
Been thinking of getting some pekin pullets for my two lonesome pekin boys. Theyre 17 weeks old, do you think i should wait a bit, say til spring, or would they be ok if I got them some girls soon? I'm also worried that they may fight over any girls. Theyve been together since hatch and ive never seen them fight. What are the chances of the boys turning on each other? Thanks Scarlett
Guest
You would need about 8 or more hens for the boys to be happy and able to stay together.
Patricia W
Two cockerels are likely to fight unless there are LOADS of girls to share. I'd try and re-home one.
jam
I guess i could split the two boys into seprerate pens and get them each their own girls. Mr Mclain (don't ask ) is a millefleur so I could get some millefleurs for him and make a breeding group. But steve is a colour cross and has a bit of everything. I suppose any bantam girls from my eggs in the incy atm could live with him when theyre old enough. lol, I think ive just answered my own question!
