jam
Just candled the eggs. Binned 2 that were definatly duds. But my memory fails me. If half of the egg is dark does that mean that its infertile, or is my light not bright enough? Im too scared to throw any more out incase ive got it wrong! Guest
If it is half dark with small veins it is fertile.
Redwing
At what point in the 21 days are they? If at day 7 they should be mostly clear with veins and a dark spot If they are half dark your candler may not be bright enough as you suggest or are you candling at the wrong end? always candle the blunt end If its day 14 + then the dark half of the egg would be about right
bevmatt
Infertile - the whole egg lights up when you shine your light in. Fertile you will see anything from a spider network of veins to solid black when ready to hatch.
jam
Theyre at 7 days. Im using the flashlight on my phone, and it wasnt that dark in the shed either. I didnt know you should candle the blunt end... I usually candle the side! Il try again tonight maybe and see if i can find my dads big led torch.
